Most residential sod projects in the Edmonton area fall between roughly $1.50 and $3.00 per square foot installed. New installations on ground that is already graded sit at the lower end; lawn renovations that require removing an existing lawn, adding topsoil and re-levelling sit higher. Sod is priced by area, but the labour around it is what really sets the cost: preparation, soil, levelling, cutting around beds and walks, disposal of the old lawn, and access to the yard. We quote the whole job rather than the sod alone so there are no surprises.

The area needs to be cleared, at the correct grade, loosened and levelled, with clean topsoil where required. Existing turf and debris are removed, and edges are cut cleanly at walks, driveways and beds. Good preparation is the single biggest factor in how a new lawn roots and how flat it stays.

Classic Curb Appeal focuses on sod installation, lawn renovation and landscape improvements. For new construction, final grading must be completed before sod installation. We're happy to assess the site and discuss any preparation required before installation.

Most residential yards are prepared and installed in one to two days. Larger properties or renovations with significant removal and soil work may take longer. We schedule so sod is laid the same day it is delivered.

Keep traffic off for about two weeks while the roots knit into the soil, other than light steps needed for watering. Wait three to four weeks before regular use, and keep pets off during that period where possible.

Water deeply right after installation, then keep the sod and the soil beneath it consistently moist for the first two to three weeks — often daily, and twice daily in hot or windy weather. After it roots, shift to fewer, deeper waterings to encourage roots to grow down.

Mow once the lawn reaches about three inches, removing no more than a third of the blade, and keep mower blades sharp. Fertilize according to the season, avoid heavy traffic in the first season, and aerate in following years to relieve compaction. Every customer gets practical guidance for their specific lawn.

Newly planted beds need consistent watering through their first two seasons, mulch topped up as it breaks down, light pruning appropriate to each plant, and weeding before weeds establish. We walk you through what your particular plants need and when.
