We care about how a landscape performs and matures after installation — not simply how it looks the day the work is finished.
The story
It started with a lawn mower and a neighbourhood
The business began when I was a young boy going door to door, asking neighbours whether they wanted their lawns cut. What started as a simple lawn-cutting business turned into an early lesson in caring for other people's properties and taking pride in doing a job well.
Later I had the opportunity to work alongside a renowned horticulturalist on a multimillion-dollar estate — large formal gardens, naturalized areas, grounds keeping, plant care and ongoing landscape maintenance, all held to a standard where the details genuinely mattered.
That experience changed how I look at a landscape. You start noticing proportions, plant selection, transitions, sightlines, finishing details, and how a planting will look in ten years rather than ten days. That way of seeing is what I bring to every project.
Classic Curb Appeal is intentionally owner-operated. That keeps the work personal, the overhead sensible and the standard consistent — the same person who quotes your project is the one looking after it.
Design philosophy
Restraint, proportion and belonging
A landscape should complement the architecture, never overpower it. Before anything is planted we consider the house itself, the proportions of the space, sightlines, existing materials, the natural surroundings, the mature size of each plant and the maintenance the design will require years from now.
We favour thoughtful restraint rather than adding elements simply because space is available. The goal is a landscape that feels as though it has always belonged to the property.
Materials
Natural, timeless, durable
We work with natural stone and natural-looking hardscape materials, cedar mulch, aluminum edging and plant material chosen for the conditions of the site. These materials age well and continue to look appropriate as the landscape matures.
It's simply how we prefer to build: quiet materials, careful transitions, and details that hold up season after season.
After the work is done
Plan → Prepare → Install → Care
Proper plant selection, preparation, installation and ongoing care are what keep a landscape healthy and attractive over time. Homeowners are rarely told what happens next, so we make a point of covering it: watering, mowing, pruning, weeding, edging, aeration and seasonal care for newly installed landscapes.
